How it works …

LOKT is simple to use and grounded in behavioural science, helping children build healthy habits for the long term.

1

Set it up together to build ownership.

Connect your child’s phone through Family Sharing so LOKT can work properly.

Involving them in setup builds ownership, which makes boundaries feel fair — not forced.

2

Choose phone-free moments.

Decide when screens should pause — bedtime, homework, family dinner or just a break.

Setting clear, consistent times and tasks teaches your child when to focus and when to rest.

3

LOKT pauses distractions.

Social media, games and notifications are silenced while your child studies, rests or spends time offline.

By removing triggers, it becomes easier for them to stay present — no arguments, no phone policing.

4

Unlock and reconnect.

When time’s up, or you receive proof via the app a task was completed, everything reactivates instantly.

Your child sees that phone-free time is temporary and beneficial — building trust and long-term balance.

Support better sleep

Blue-light and constant alerts delay melatonin and fragment rest.

Model the behaviour

Children imitate what they see.

Put your own phone on charge during phone-free periods and tell them you’re doing the same.

That simple cue builds credibility and consistency.

Collaborate, don’t control

When parents explain why limits exist and involve children in decisions, resistance drops and self-control grows.

Discuss together when phones will be on or off, and check in weekly about what’s working.

Replace, don’t just restrict

Phone-free time works best when it’s swapped for something rewarding.

Try: Making a snack together, walking the dog, learning a song, drawing or journaling.

These small wins strengthen willpower and enjoyment.

Be consistent but flexible

Habits stick through routine, but flexibility preserves trust.

Keep core times (like bedtime) consistent, yet allow exceptions for special events - then return to normal.
